Our GalleryMachiya-Bito is a gallery in Tokyo, in the Machiya neighborhood, in Shinagawa district. This district is famous for its craft workers and they also do have the only tramway of Tokyo. The neighborhood is authentically and a great place to discover Japanese culture with historical roots. We where warmly welcomed by Meiko Kochiya-san. She is a great personality with a huge network of artists and crafts folks of Shinagawa. You should definitively check out her planning to see if you could pop by when in Tokyo. Meiko-san speaks french (she is sometimes assisted by her English speaking daughter). If you want to contact them, say hello from Aina and Karianne =) Highly, highly recommended!!
[røst] :
norwegian, voice, the sound and stories that reach you from outside. This [røst] reflect the force of nature and the importance of humanity, to speak up for great relationships. Røst is also a geographical place high up in the north of Norway.
rWhy [røst] ?
This is not about screaming! It's all about closing the sound, natures huge infinite scream, out. Tune in. Enter! Use your [røst]. Find solutions for peace! We focus on a fair and sustainable world with great relationships, highlighting the solutions for injustice against nature and humans. We believe in humanity, in nature. We are #womenartist with roots from Trøndelag, Norway. This is the old center of Norway, anciently Nidaros, the old capital, like Reims in France or Kyoto in Japan. Our royal family still go there to the countrys only cathedral Nidarosdomen, to get their blessings. The geograficaly [Røst] is fare out in the sea, on the southern part of Nordland, where mermaids and seamen meet the earth. It's high up north, on the other side of the border from Trøndelag. On the other side of the sea. The story of Querini, secretly kept in the greatest library in Rome, Italy, tell us about humans on the search of a new paradise, like our modern migrants - always traveling for new lands and cultures. This story is the most ancient story a travelers journal, from outlanders from the more civilized south that happened to meet humans from the north, in Røst. In this meeting, nature is stronger than humans, we need to find humanity and respect between the individuals - this is peace. Today this story also tell us that raw cultural projects gather humans and cultures to tell a story, and in this live together in creation and happiness to create new culture. Røst expo / utstillingen røst belive in raw creations, in the meeting of a new culture, in the development between difference and repetition. This is a cultural exchange. #Munch2018 in Tokyo Metropolitain Art Museum inspired #RØSTexpo / #UtstillingenRØST and offered a great occasion to reflect our focus on nature, culture, art and contemporary creations, made on stage by #womenartists from Munchs Norway.
Karianne B. now live in Tokyo, Japan. This trip, to the other side of the sea and planet, with the recent Edvard Munch promotion in Japan (Munch2018.jp), could illustrate the walk that the painter had on the bridge with two of his friends. This is the moment when Munch felt the scream, like an earthquake, maybe even like a stormy thunder or a cloud-quake. #Munch2018 put focus on Norwegian art in Japan. We focus on limits: freedom and creativity, difference and repetition, solutions for right and wrong, environment and consumption #RØSTexpo questions : What screams around you? Which voice derange you? What do you not want to hear? From your house or your garden? From our common space? Which voices speak to you? What would you express to avoid the screams of your surroundings? Where are the limit? Can you see and read the language without borders? We tell you, this is not about screaming! It's all about closing the sound, natures huge infinite scream, out. Enter! Use your [røst]. Find solutions for peace! We work for a fair and sustainable world with great relationships, highlighting solutions, capturing images, recycling, painting and printing. We creat visual art to meet your humanity. Greetings, we hope that you will join in, Aina Regine N. & Karianne B. |
